Character Name: Geimo
Level: 80
Link to your Armory page: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ragnaros&cn=Geimo
Previous PvE Experience:
I've raided since lvl 60, done all the classic raids, with the exception of few bosses at Naxx. At lvl 70 I did everything else but Sunwell as the GM of a guild called Vindictive. @ lvl 80 done all that there can be done, in ICC downed 6 bosses.
Can you raid between sunday - wednesday: yup
- From 19:30 - 23:00 [Server Time!]: yup
- At least three times a week? almost sure yes
Previous PvP Experience:
I'm more like a PVE guy, I did some battlegrounds back in the day at lvl 60, but not much nowadays.
Can you, will you use ventrilo for raids?
Yes, Yes
Previous Guild (if applicable): Excequor (60), Vindictive & Cynical (70), nothing special at 80 (mby Muradin Revengers ). Some other finnish guilds, cant even remember them all.
Reason(s) for leaving old Guild(s): Guild too casual for my passion, or my own life crossing with wow (for example stopped wow at lvl 70 because of army).
Reason(s) for Joining: I'd like to have a chance to clear ICC, heard some good things about the guild and I'm hoping to get the chance to enjoy the raids and progress again.
Do you know anybody in Oblivion's Reborn? Some finnish ppl by name, ppl like Graldon and Merlot.
Why should we choose you over someone else? I've played mage ever since wow came out, I know the class inside out, and I never get tired of trying to push my dps a little more, and avoid dying a little more often.
Tell us a bit about yourself:
RL Age: 21
Nationality: Finnish
Occupation: Computer salesman \o/
Internet Connection: 110M/5M cable
If there's anything you'd like to add: I love my crits big. |

I think gear and spec wise there's no great mishap. That arcane spec seems to be the cookie cutter, and the gemming/enchanting is fine.
It bothers me though that for a vanilla player you have less achievement points than most my alts. Including in the raiding section. I feel you could prove yourself, but you seem to not have the experience you claim you have. In 25 ICC you haven't been past saurfang and in 10 man you've only downed marrowgar and rotface. Kinda weird.
Waiting for mago to reply.
I guess I might wanna see what you are like in raids. |

Yeah my achies are a great mystery. I stopped playing on the edge of wotlk and once I started playing again after a few months into wotlk, didnt get like half the achies that I've done. Hasnt really bothered me, but yea I understand ur concern.
And for the ICC kills, the reason I wanna join a good guild again is because I'm constantly pugging and it's seriously frustrating. Also u might wanna check my DK for the ICC progress that I claimed. |

Fair enough. Yah we're more interested in the mage for now though, but I beleive you. I think you're alright, at least trial worthy. Oh one thing, isn't the critical strike meta/crit damage better than the sp? Was just wondering. You do have way too much crit gear for an arcane mage, and seriously lacking on haste. You're going to want to get hold of haste gear asap if you want to be competitive in dps.
Anyways good luck. Waiting to see what mago says. |

Yeah your right, my stats are way off balance. I've just been taking all the items that I can get, and it hasnt been much, just look at my trinket
That meta gem then again, it requires 2 blue gems, and I just cant really decide whether to keep stacking some spellpower or to get marginally better crit gem since I'd have to sacrifice 2 red gems to make it work. Ah well gotta start doing more theorycrafting if I'm to focus on my mage again. |

Hi there,
While your gear is all around the right item level, it really looks like you've been taking whatever drops and not considering stats. Like a Hunter who wears cloth.
Biggest thing is the meta gem. The Chaotic Skyflare is around 6 times as good as the Ember Skyflare. 3% extra crit damage vs 25SP? That's a real simple choice.
You have almost no haste to speak of. Get a trophy and get the T9 shoulders. Then farm emblems for Crusader orbs and craft Merlin's Robe and the Bejeweled Wizards Bracers. That'll give you some haste and remove your useless hit. If you have the emblems of Frost, buy the chest instead.
Go and farm the Abyssal Rune.
Your talents are very cookie-cutter. For someone so far over the hit cap, you could easily take a point out of Arcane Focus and put it in Incanters Absorption. A great talent if you are good with wards, mana shields and disc priests. _________________ Ciali's Val'Kyr: A direct sequel to Charlie's Angels

Alright, so I just read this appli before going to bed last night, but couldnt be bothered to write a long reply.
So at first I got extremely happy when I read:

Finally! Some1 that knows what the fuck he's doing and I dont have to teach how to play and gear.
BUT then I saw your armory, and got disappointed - very disappointed.
Apparently, you have no clue about what an arcane mage needs these days. Maybe you know alot about the mage class, but not about the mage in wotlk - atleast that's what it looks like to me.
Anyways, my point is your gear mainly. Ciali already mentioned the basic concerns:
The meta gem. Chaotic Skyflare Diamond is a must have no matter what. Use 2 sp/spi gems where you get the best socket bonus.
Trinkets: The int trinket is a great choice for arcane, the Abyssal Rune from totc5 normal is 1 of the best for arcane aswell - get it, no excuse!
T9: From the start you should have gone straight for 4P T9 as it is a straight 5% crit bonus for arcane. Together with 4p you should have made Merlins Robe together with the Bejeweled Wizard Bracers - as Ciali mentioned. That would bring you to a proper haste level, something that you are very far from with the gear optainable these days.
Also, picking up the cloak from frost emblems was a huge mistake, as crit is so low of value as an arcane mage. What's not, is T10. The tier 10 bonusses are just amazing and should be the first thing to go for with emblems of frost!
As Ciali mentioned you have quite a lot of hit, which means you can leave out some hit talents from the arcane tree and get some other useful stuff and Incanters Absorbtion, which is - if used properly - a pretty good dps increase.
And alright, you might "just have picked up whatever you got", but to me that kinda shows that you havent really done any research about what gear and set bonusses are great for us, and what stats to prioritize.
To sum it all up:
To me it doesnt look like you "know the class inside out" like you claimed in the application. Your gear is kinda lacking.
BUT, you can prove me wrong in a raid ofc.
- Mago out
(Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh, but got pretty disappointed after reading the application the first time) _________________

I love feedback. The truth to the matter is that I've been playing my DK most of wotlk, and eventhough I've played mage for about 4 years, last time I raided hardcore with it, I was doing BT at lvl 70.
I'll take these notes into consideration though. Just one thing that I cant really get my head around, is all the hassle about high hit rating. I've got 11,70% hit, so without misery or ff I'm 3% over the cap, it's really enough to consider respeccing? Misery and impFF arent guaranteed afterall. |

Your high hit rating to me is just an indication of your gearing style. It means you just take whatever cloth piece drops. _________________ Ciali's Val'Kyr: A direct sequel to Charlie's Angels

Farmed Abyssal Rune.
Swapped shoulders to tier 9.
Changed meta gem and purple gems accordingly.
Took me up about 150 on haste, while losing the same amount on spell power. Think my stats are better balanced now aswell. Lost some hit rating aswell while changing the shoulders so I wont be respeccing atleast for now. |
